External Funding Opportunities

This scholarship is offered to students who have completed at least two years of study. May re-apply for three academic years and must be in good academic standing.

Need and merit-based scholarship open to all U.S. students whose education is motivated by “spiritual values.”

Graduate students over the age of 30 are invited to apply for a BU Women’s Guild award. These include:

• Katherine Connor McLaughlin Awards (approximately $1,000-$2,000)
• Dr. Beverly Brown Award (approximately $1,000-$2,000)
• Women’s Guild Awards (amounts vary, usually $500-$1,000)

Eligibility Requirements

• All currently enrolled graduate students, full-time or certified full-time, with a preference to women.
• Two-three letters of recommendation, with at least one recommendation from a BU faculty member.

All graduate students, regardless of age, are encouraged to apply for a BU Women’s Council Award. These include:

• New England Women’s College Scholarship (approximately, $5,000)
• Marion Parsons Wheeler Scholarship, approximately ($5,000)
• Council Scholarships, amounts vary

First Gen Fund is a non-profit organization providing essential resources and meaningful support for the first gen (first-generation higher education students) community.

An annual scholarship opportunity for students studying in any health or medical-related field.

A college scholarship of $1,500 awarded to an upcoming or current graduate student with interest in pursuing a career in the health and fitness related fields.

An annual scholarship opportunity for all college students who are studying in any field within the realm of the medical or health world.

Contest open to all incoming and current students at an accredited university in healthcare related studies.

Scholarship for students interested in pursuing education and careers in health care.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) empowers Hispanic students and parents with the knowledge and resources to successfully complete a higher education, while providing support services and scholarships to as many exceptional students, HSF Scholars and Alumni as possible.

KASF scholarships are offered to the qualified Korean American students (including foreign students from Korea). All applicants must be enrolled in a full time program in the U.S during the scholarship application year.

Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago administers educational scholarship funds to help Jewish students offset some of their financial burden. Assistance is available for those with financial need who are pursuing careers in the helping professions.

The Rowe Fund program of the Organization of American States (OAS) aims to support Latin American and Caribbean students pursuing higher education in the United States by providing interest-free loans and supplementary scholarships.

The Indian Health Service (IHS) offers three scholarships for American Indian and Alaska Native students in order to educate and train health professionals to staff Indian health programs.

This scholarship is awarded to students who are connected to their Tribal Nations and Indian Countries and wish to utilize their degrees to serve their Nations.

African-American and Black scholars who are pursuing a graduate or doctoral degree in all discipline areas are eligible for this scholarship. 

Offers one $1,000 educational scholarship annually.

Med Travlers offers a $5,000 scholarship twice a year to current Speech-Language Pathology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and School Psychology graduate students.

National AMBUCS, Inc. awards scholarships to students (U.S. citizens) pursuing degrees in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology and hearing audiology.

This scholarship supports students who have newly immigrated and students who are the children of new immigrants into the United States.

The fund for the E.K. Wise scholarship supports students pursuing an entry-level occupational therapy (OT) or occupational therapy assistant (OTA) degree from diverse backgrounds. 

The Minority Scholarship Award recognizes physical therapy students currently in their final year of an accredited program, and faculty members who are pursuing postprofessional doctoral degrees, for their professional character and academic excellence.

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASHFoundation) invites full-time students who will be or who are currently enrolled in a communication sciences and disorders graduate program to apply for graduate scholarships.

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASHFoundation) invites master’s and doctoral students to apply for the Student Research Grant in Early Childhood Language Development, supported by the Arlene M. and Noel D. Matkin Memorial Fund.

Bilingual Therapies offers scholarships for bilingual speech-language pathology and school psychology students who are entering their last academic year.

This award is intended for graduate students in a professional program (Master’s SLP, Master’s AuD, or SLPD) who have shown exemplary service. Examples of service may include, but are not limited to, community service, service to the department or university, or service to the greater discipline.

Any student enrolled in an ASHA accredited graduate speech-language program is eligible to apply to this scholarship. 

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation awards a variety of scholarships/awards each year.

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and The Sallie Mae Fund are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending an accredited post-secondary graduate level institution. 

CPSDA awards one  $7,000 scholarship to a BIPOC student pursuing a career in sports nutrition to attend an accredited DI of their choice.

Provides scholarships to outstanding individuals seeking graduate degrees and dietetic internships in the field of nutrition.
