Micro-Purchase Threshold Increased for Sponsored Research
Effective July 1, 2021 (FY22), the Micro-Purchase Threshold for Boston University sponsored research expenditures is being increased from $10,000 to $25,000.
Under federal guidance, any sponsored research purchase less than $25,000 may be awarded without soliciting competitive price or rate quotations if the price is deemed to be reasonable based on research, experience, or historical information. Departments must document the purchase accordingly with examples such as: price quotes from 2 or more vendors; historical purchases with this particular vendor or; Vendor contracts that BU currently holds.
