2026 START Program
The Office of Research invites faculty to participate in the 2026 Samsung Strategic Alliance for Research and Technology (START) Program. The START program is a new annual call for proposals that invites North American university faculty to propose innovative research ideas that enable a novel device experience for Samsung for funding up to $150k.
Samsung is seeking game changing innovations that will impact their entire product portfolio in mobile technology, visual display, digital appliances, and networking. Samsung is looking for proposals in the following key domains: AI, digital health, 6G, camera, multimedia, AR/VR, security, system on a chip, big data, robotics, medical tech, and new emerging tech.

- Amount: Up to $150k
- Internal Deadline: Please submit formatted, complete proposals along with required documentation, a budget, and a fully signed proposal summary form to Sponsored Programs (ospera@bu.edu), Industry Engagement (engagebu@bu.edu), and Technology Development (otd@bu.edu) no later than Monday, March 16. Industry Engagement will then notify Sponsored Programs of proposals that can move forward for final review, approval, and submission.
