Undergraduate Research Funding Opportunity
Apply by Friday, December 12 at 12 pm
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) is now accepting applications for spring 2026 funding. UROP supports undergraduate students conducting research in collaboration with BU faculty mentors. Two types of stipends are available.
- Student Research Award: Fully funded by UROP for up to five hours of research per week.
- Faculty Matching Grant: Funding shared equally between UROP and the faculty mentor for 5, 8, or 10 hours of research per week.
Awards are paid through the Student Employment Office over a 10-week period beginning in February.
Faculty mentors must submit a letter of recommendation for applicants by 11:59 pm on Friday, December 12. Faculty and students are encouraged to review the eligibility requirements and funding descriptions before moving forward with an application. Note that students can only receive UROP funding twice.

If you are an undergraduate student new to research, the Finding a Mentor page offers helpful guidance on getting started. If you are a faculty member with an undergraduate research opportunity to share, you can advertise it on our website here.
