OBJECTIVES:
This program is intended to improve outcomes, minimize additional trauma, and restore safety and security to older adult victims of abuse and financial exploitation. Elder abuse, sometimes called elder mistreatment, includes any intentional or negligent act that causes harm or creates a serious risk of harm to an older person by a family member, caregiver, or other person in a trusted relationship. Elder abuse may include abuse that is physical, emotional/psychological (including threats), or sexual; neglect (including abandonment); and financial exploitation. This is a general definition; state definitions of elder abuse vary. Some definitions may also include fraud, scams, or financial crimes targeted at older people.

INTERNAL SELECTION PROCESS:
Interested investigators should submit the following materials via InfoReady Review by DATE: 4/10/20
- Questions outlined in InfoReady Review application;
- A brief statement (up to 2 pages) by the candidate describing their achievements and proposed project;
- A brief budget outline for the proposed research
- Up-to-date CV or biosketch.
A faculty committee will review internal proposals and select nominees.
