Limited Submission Opportunity: CDC Prevention Epicenters Program
CDC Prevention Epicenters Program: Protecting Patients from Infections, Antibiotic Resistance and Other Adverse Events
URL: https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/view-opportunity.html?oppId=320418
OBJECTIVES:
The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to form a collaborative research infrastructure between experts in relevant fields of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) and antibiotic resistance (AR) to respond to research priorities to protect patients. This network will conduct research to support the translation of basic, epidemiologic and technologic discoveries into new strategies for preventing HAIs, AR and other adverse events in all types of healthcare facilities in the United States.
Through this NOFO, awardees will be funded to perform “Core Projects” over a five (5)-year period. Core Projects are designed and implemented by individual awardees and should be performed entirely within their own institution and/or with other partners identified in their initial application. In response to this NOFO, applicants will describe a research plan for their Core Projects. Applicants will also describe how their site will contribute to the Collaborative Research Infrastructure of the Epicenters Program.
In addition to Core Projects, applicants have the option to submit up to three “Optional Collaborative Projects” (one Small, one Medium and one Large project), each of which will be for one (1) to four (4) years in duration. These Optional Collaborative Projects will build upon the collaborative infrastructure established as part of the Core Projects. Optional Collaborative Projects are multicenter studies that facilitate translation of early discoveries into prevention strategies. As part of the initial scientific merit review, Core Projects and Optional Collaborative Projects will be scored and ranked separately. An applicant must be awarded a Core Project in order to be eligible for Optional Collaborative Project funding.
FUNDING INFORMATION:
Core Projects: $500,000 to $600,000 per year for 5 years
Optional Collaborative Project(s): $250,000 to $2,500,000 total
