Formation of the BU Hub Council
From Dr. Jean Morrison, University Provost and Chief Academic Officer
As the BU Hub enters its second year of operation, I write to announce the formation of a new governing body, the BU Hub Council, which is charged with the Hub’s ongoing assessment and any future adjustments to its requirements, outcomes, and policies.
Appointed by the Provost in consultation with the deans and chaired by the Assistant Provost for General Education, the Hub Council is composed primarily of teaching and research active faculty from schools and colleges with undergraduate programs. It includes one member from the Faculty Council and one member from the University Council General Education Committee. It will operate in close consultation with those bodies and report to the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Affairs, who will provide reports on the Hub Council’s activities to the University Council.
Members of the Hub Council will conduct ongoing, holistic assessment of the BU Hub through consultation with faculty, students, and alumni who have gone through the program. They will review evidence and input from sources such as listening sessions with different units on campus, sub-committees of area specialists, student focus groups, student enrollment and retention data, and learning outcomes assessments to evaluate how best to meet the broad curricular goals of the Hub.
The membership of the inaugural BU Hub Council are listed below. Please join me in thanking our colleagues for their service and wishing them well in this important new role supporting excellence in undergraduate education at Boston University.
