All-University Commencement

From Dr. Jean Morrison, University Provost and Chief Academic Officer

The All-University Commencement scheduled for Sunday, May 19, at Nickerson Field is just about two weeks away.

If you plan to march in the processional at Commencement, I ask that you please email bugrad19@bu.edu with your name and school/college. You should have received specific information regarding Commencement earlier this semester. Please remember that the faculty robing area is in Claflin Hall. The assembly area can be reached via the walkway adjacent to 985 Commonwealth Avenue; University marshals will be in place to assist you. More detailed information regarding Commencement can be found at www.bu.edu/commencement.

Dr. Marcia McNutt, president of the National Academy of Sciences, will deliver Boston University’s 146th Commencement Address during the ceremony. Dr. John P. Howe, former president and CEO of Project HOPE and BU Trustee, will deliver the Baccalaureate Address earlier in the day at Marsh Chapel. Both will receive honorary degrees.

Others who will receive honorary degrees are: Lauren Shuler Donner, Hollywood producer and philanthropist; and Karen Holmes Ward, director of Public Affairs and Community Services at WCVB.

Your presence at Commencement is greatly appreciated by our graduates and their families and friends. I hope you will join us for what promises to be a wonderful ceremony.
