A note from our Director:
Want to learn more about forced migration but unsure how or where to start?
With so much information—and misinformation—being circulated about refugees, knowing which sources to trust (or even where to begin) can be an overwhelming prospect.
To help explain and demystify forced migration and its many facets the students enrolled in the Forced Migration and Human Trafficking class at the Pardee School of Global Studies have created a study guide of targeted reading lists to share with our broader community.
Each reading list focuses on explaining one dimension of the Syrian refugee crisis and its impact on receiving states, with a special focus on Jordan. Jordan is one of the most important host states in this crisis—home to large numbers of Syrian refugees as well as pre-existing communities of Iraqis and Palestinians. In the past five years, it has experienced exponential demographic growth, leading to substantial strain on its public institutions, infrastructure, labor market, and (scarce) resources.
We hope you read along with us. Questions can be addressed to the Pardee Initiative on Forced Migration and Human Trafficking migrant@bu.edu or to the students directly on refugeebuapp@gmail.com.
Happy Reading!
