
Sarah Sklar
Lecturer
Sarah’s research focuses on global development and international political economy, with a particular focus on China and the Belt and Road Initiative. Her dissertation looks at how Chinese domestic politics in Yunnan and Guangxi province influence BRI projects and thus relations with China’s southern neighbors. She also uses network analysis to examine global financial flows and China’s role in the international political economy. She received her Ph.D. from Boston University in Political Science and her bachelor’s from Brown University in Development Studies. She previously served as a fellow at the Pardee School’s Global Development Policy Center and at the National Bureau of Asian Research. Before graduate school she worked briefly in the non-profit sector.
