Renato de Gaspi

Renato H. de Gaspi is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Climate Policy Lab at The Fletcher School, Tufts University. His work focuses on the political economy of development strategies in Latin America, with recent work on how the green transition is reshaping the politics of industrial policy in democratic developing countries. He also writes on the sectoral politics of the green transition, producing academic and policy research on sectors such as batteries, EVs, and biofuels. His work has appeared in Regulation & Governance, Development and Change, and Politics and Governance, as well as in policy outlets such as Phenomenal World.
Prior to joining the CPL, Renato was a Senior Research Associate and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Net Zero Industrial Policy Lab, Johns Hopkins University, leading the Lab’s work on Brazil. He has taught at Pardee since the Fall of 2024, always on the Political Economy of Latin America . He holds a PhD in Political Science from Central European University in Vienna.
