Mesfin Woldegebriel

Mesfin Woldegebriel is a lecturer at the Pardee School of Global Studies, specializing in African politics, conflict, peace, and development. His research focuses on political transitions and conflicts in the Horn of Africa. Previously, he was a research fellow at the Harvard Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study (2021). He also served as an assistant professor at the Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) at Addis Ababa University from 2012 to 2021.

During his tenure at Addis Ababa University, Dr. Woldegebriel directed the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence for African Post-Conflict Societies from 2018 to 2022. He earned his Ph.D. in Peace Studies from the University of Bradford (UK) in 2012 and a master’s degree in governance and development management from the University of Birmingham (UK) in 2004.

His scholarly contributions include numerous book chapters, peer-reviewed articles, and commissioned reports for international and regional organizations.
