Before Pardee, Matthew spent nearly a decade building a career in theater arts. At Pardee, he began translating that experience into a new professional path, applying his graduate training as a research assistant with the Korea Defense Veterans Association and later gaining high-level think tank experience at the Wilson Center with support from the Corgan Internship Fund.

With career advising support, Matthew learned how to communicate the value of his transferable skills, including adaptability, communication, and the ability to understand people. Through his hard work and strategic career development, he successfully pivoted into the intelligence and security sector. Today, he works as a policy analyst at Ancilla Technologies and Services, Inc., contributing to national security priorities and supporting mission-driven work in service to the country.

Diplomatic Career: Supporting Bilateral Relations in a Challenging Overseas Post

YUKA SETO
Diplomat at the Embassy of Japan in South Sudan

Yuka is building her diplomatic career at one of the most challenging overseas posts for the Japanese Foreign Ministry: Juba, South Sudan. In this early-career role, she has the opportunity to gain an unusually broad diplomatic experience, wearing many hats in a way that is often not possible at a larger embassy.

At Pardee, Yuka focused on the intersection of humanitarian relief and international relations, interests that closely align with the realities of her work in South Sudan. She is already deeply engaged in coordination with the close network of foreign diplomats based in the country, as well as with South Sudanese officials. Through this work, Yuka contributes to Japan’s diplomatic presence in a complex and evolving context while supporting bilateral relations, international cooperation, and development engagement.

Prestigious Fellowship: Building Language Skills for Federal Service

Boren Fellow

Devon received a prestigious Boren Fellowship to study critical language skills in Serbia and gain professional experience with a local organization. Through this immersive experience, Devon strengthened regional expertise, language proficiency, and cross-cultural skills.

Upon returning to the United States, Devon plans to pursue opportunities in the federal government, bringing globally informed experience and critical language skills to public service.

International Student Success: From Internship to Full-Time Role

As an international graduate, Ge secured an internship at a major international humanitarian organization and later moved into a U.S.-based full-time human resource role with a multinational retailer. As she explored options, she actively sought support from professors and advisors, building the confidence and clarity needed to move forward.

As a human resources intern, Ge contributed to the organization’s global mission through talent support, people operations, and administrative work. Her path highlights how international students can build meaningful careers in the United States by connecting their skills to mission-driven organizations and growing across different functional areas.

Emma serves as Director of Institutional Giving at West End House (WEH), a dynamic youth development organization that has served as a vital community anchor for immigrant and urban youth in Boston since 1906. In her role, Emma leads grant writing, reporting, and outreach to the corporate, foundation, and government partners who fund the organization’s $5.5+ million annual budget. Institutional support enables the expansion of services across several program areas, ranging from College and Career Pathways to Food and Nutrition, ultimately deepening West End House’s impact on the community and the young people it serves.

While at Pardee, Emma was Vice President of the Pardee Graduate Council, where she developed skills in collaboration, communication, and organizational leadership. These experiences helped her turn her passion for social impact into a career. Her work demonstrates how international affairs graduates can lead in nonprofit development, strategy, and community impact while advancing equity and opportunity at the local level.

Based in Paris, Seynedhee works as a consultant at EY, a world leading consulting firm, where she uses data analytics to support health care projects. Her work combines analytical skills, global perspective, and problem-solving, skills she developed both in and outside the classroom, to help improve systems and outcomes in the health sector.

Beyond her consulting role, she founded DiasporaSpotlight, a show and community that highlights the innovation, leadership, and impact of diasporas around the world. Her path reflects the many ways Pardee graduates use data, storytelling, and global perspective to make an impact across sectors.

Sean applies his international affairs training in the private sector as a global risk specialist at Securitas Security Services USA, Inc., a multinational intelligence security company.
