Fostering deeper understanding, impactful research, and meaningful exchange at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies.
Director’s Vision
“It is an honor to serve as the inaugural director of the Middle East and North Africa Initiative at the Pardee School of Global Studies. At a time when careful scholarly engagement and clear-headed policy discussions about the region are more critical than ever, this initiative aims to serve as a dynamic hub for Boston University’s relationships with the region.”
Our Distinctive Approach
“BU’s MENA Studies major, now Pardee’s MENA Studies initiative, includes Israel and Hebrew as worthy MENA Studies topics. On many campuses these groups of scholars are not on speaking terms, but BU’s MENA and Jewish Studies faculty work closely together to sustain each other and to foster an academic climate where everyone feels safe to research, teach, learn, think, and change their minds. This gives our students an extremely useful education.”
