Maria Gapotchenko is a Core alumna who teaches mostly in the Core Humanities sequence (CC 101, 102, 201, and 202) as well as the social science-focused CC 222. She also teaches writing seminars on democracy, friendship, the politics of memory, and 19th and 20th century Russian literature. She has lately been involved with the Reacting to the Past pedagogy, which engages students through immersive role-playing games, and with BU’s Cross-College Challenge program, dedicated to project- and team-based learning.

Maria has translated scholarly works in literary criticism, sociology, music and theater arts, and Soviet archival studies. Her poetry has appeared in the literary magazines Clarion and Literary Mama.
