Frequently Asked Questions
How can I access the Professional Clothing Closet?
Appointments (30-min each) are available during the fall and spring semester via
Handshake. Log in using your BU credentials. From the Career Center drop-down menu, select Appointments. Select Schedule New Appointment, then choose the Professional Clothing Closet category and select a time that works for your schedule. You’ll be asked to answer a few questions about what you’re looking for, which will help us make sure we have the range of items and sizes available.
Please note: Starting May 20, please email closet@bu.edu to request an appointment with the Professional Clothing Closet over the summer. Fall appointment availability will open on Handshake in late August.
Can I cancel or reschedule my Professional Clothing Closet appointment?
If you wish to cancel your appointment, you can do so in Handshake with at least 18 hours notice. Please note: if you no-show or provide less than 18 hours notice of a cancellation, the CCD’s
no-show policy will apply.
If you wish to reschedule your appointment, you can cancel your original time in Handshake, then book a new appointment at a time that works for you. If you have any difficulties accessing your appointment, please email us.
I can’t sign up for an appointment on Handshake. Is there another way to access the closet?
Under Appointments, be sure to select “Center for Career Development,” then select “Professional Clothing Closet” as your appointment type. If you don’t see any appointment times, it means no appointments are available at this time. However, we release new appointment availability each Monday, and we do get cancellations from time to time, so please continue to check back on Handshake for new openings.
If you are a LAW, SOM, or GSDM student, when you visit Handshake, you will see a notification that your account has been archived. Click the link to request that your account be reactivated. This process is typically completed within 1-2 business days. Once your account is active, you will be able to book a PCC appointment.

Are there any costs or fees?
No, the Professional Clothing Closet is absolutely free to students.
Can I volunteer with the Professional Clothing Closet?

How can I donate?
Donate Financially
We invite donors to make a financial contribution or donate items from our Amazon wish list. Your support enables the Professional Clothing Closet to stock items that are in greatest demand and to fill crucial gaps in our inventory. We appreciate your support.
Donate Items
Thank you for your interest in supporting the Professional Clothing Closet! Thanks to the generosity of many individuals and local companies, our inventory is currently at full capacity, and we are not able to accept in-kind donations at this time.
I donated clothing. How can I get a receipt for tax credit?
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to provide a receipt for a tax credit. We apologize for any inconvenience.
The Professional Clothing Closet is grateful for community support. We need your help to have enough clothing and operational funding to provide up to 4 items of clothing for any BU student who wishes to utilize the resource.
