Is free of charge an option?

The Department of Arts Administration at Boston University is collaborating with the Museum of Contemporary Cuts (MoCC) on an important project with the intention of developing more visibility and opportunities for arts organizations. In a time of crisis in which the cost for a marketing announcement has reached $1,300, pricing out small and medium arts organizations, the Department of Arts Administration together with MoCC have decided to support a curated series of announcements that are totally free for U.S. based and international institutions.

The announcements will be posted on the social media pages and webpages of the Department of Arts Administration and of MoCC.

The fact that the ads provided are free does not mean that there is no labor or costs included. These costs, which include the salary of a graduate assistant who will act as a marketing manager, will be shouldered by the Arts Administration Department and MoCC. Our intern, through the social media and marketing fellowship, will provide visibility for art related jobs, internships, calls, and events.

You can upload the necessary material and information at this link.

We will support most announcements as long as they comply with the following formal requirements:

  1. Image must be landscape (2000 x 1200 pixels as a jpeg)
  2. Image Credit
  3. Clear Description in English of the announcement.

Once the announcement is posted you will be notified.

We want to ensure the visibility as well as the necessity of not speculating on services that could and should be provided, freely, to the arts community and not in a form of monopoly as it is currently happening.

Our first fellowship is named after Luciano Pavarotti because we want to give voice to a part of the community that is silenced by the economic crisis and financial throws of advanced capitalism. Our first Luciano Pavarotti fellow in social media and marketing is Samantha Lovewell.
