Qiumei Chen (CFA’16)
Violinist

In 2014, Qiumei graduated from the String Department of The Central Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Professor Hong Wang. She then pursued her Master’s in String Performance at the Boston University College of Fine Arts, where she studied with Professor Peter Zazofsky. During her time in the United States, she performed at major concert halls including Boston Symphony Hall and Carnegie Hall.
Upon returning to China in 2017, Qiumei joined the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra as a first violinist, touring internationally with the orchestra. She also performed for momentous national occasions like the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of Macau’s return to China.
As a young violinist, Qiumei captivated audiences with her exquisite musicality and narrated stories through music of diverse styles and cultures. She has frequently appeared as soloist with orchestras including the Shenzhen Symphony and Harbin Symphony Orchestras. Through her elegant interpretation, she shares the rhythms and cultural elements with audiences from the Tian Shan foothills to the Changbai mountains, across the shores of the Great Lakes, and on the sides of the Alps Mountains.
