J. R. Hipple (COM’88)

Mr. Hipple received his Master of Science in public relations from the College of Communication in 1988 and prior to that earned a Bachelor of Science from Miami University of Ohio.

Mr. Hipple is Managing Partner of S. I. R., a Richmond, Virginia-based management consulting and market research firm, where he also heads up the firm’s leadership communications and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practice areas. He is an advisor to corporations, government, and nonprofits across the nation, and he is a frequent speaker on DE&I and future trends impacting business.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hipple has been active in leadership roles with business and community organizations, including: chairman of the Atlanta-based Center for Ethics and Corporate Responsibility, president of the Richmond Sports Commission, and board member of the Community Foundation of Central Virginia. He also is a guest lecturer and adjunct instructor at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. He has remained engaged with his alma mater, serving on the Boston University Alumni Council, the Alumni Association’s advisory body.
