Singing civil rights movement freedom songs: Book talk with author Cheryl Boots

Cheryl Boots (GRS’94, GRS’00, STH’14), Senior Lecturer of Humanities, CGS, gives us a preview of her upcoming book on the songs from the Southern Freedom Movement in the U.S.

Using sound clips of Freedom Songs, Dr. Boots tells stories of activists to explain the importance of community building through singing in Birmingham, Selma, and Montgomery Alabama.
