Ignite a Passion for Learning about Science
Immerse yourself in science content as you prepare to be an effective teacher and leader in science education. Prepare to design, teach, and supervise science programs and foster students’ comprehensive understanding of biology, chemistry, physics, or general science. Choose from two master’s programs (EdM and MAT) and four certificate programs and learn how to:
- Deliver engaging and high-quality science instruction
- Apply research-based practices to curriculum design and classroom instruction
- Design and implement meaningful assessments to measure and support student growth
- Create a safe and effective learning environment that supports diverse learners
In the Science Education program at BU Wheelock, you have the option to pursue initial teaching licensure in biology, chemistry, or physics (grades 8–12) or general science (grades 5–8).
Choose the Program That’s Right for You
Our science education faculty bring extensive experience as secondary science educators and scholars of teaching and learning. Their work is grounded in research and classroom practice, allowing them to connect educational theory with the realities of science instruction.
“My BU Wheelock experience was shaped by different perspectives and cultural backgrounds, which taught me to be open minded and think critically. This means imagining more possibilities for myself—that I can be a teacher, a learning specialist, or a product manager in the ed tech field. Without the support of our cohort, I would never reach my possibilities.”
