The TESOL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages) program at BU Wheelock College of Education & Human Development offers a graduate certificate that prepares future teachers of English and other languages. In the graduate certificate program, you will be exposed to how language works, the ways that people learn to speak a second language, and communicative approaches to language teaching.

Our solid grounding in applied linguistics will help you become a more effective teacher of English to students who speak other languages natively. In our classes, you will learn about the structure of the language, features of language variation, and more. The TESOL graduate certificate program is ideal for those who already hold advanced degrees, people making mid-career changes, or those who are already volunteering or working in this field.
