2020 Clare Boothe Luce Awardees

Sabrina Barbaro, an Astrophysics major, is conducting research with Indara Suarez (CAS Physics) on a project titled, “First Measurement of top-W scattering in CMS.”

Ashlyn Carroll, a Mechanical Engineering major, is conducting research with Sheila Russo (ENG Mechanical Engineering) on a project titled “Developing A Soft Robotic Skin with Optical Waveguides and Pressure Sensing in order to Improve Endoscopic Procedures.”

Alyssa Haynes, a Biology major, is conducting research with Joseph Larkin (CAS Physics) on a project titled, “Probing the effects of habitat geometry on the development and behavior of bacterial communities.”

Victoria Jordan, a BMB major, is conducting research with Adrian Whitty (CAS Chemistry) on a project titled “Investigation of the mechanism of activation of the RET receptor using GDNF derived peptides.”

Nicole Leon Vargas, a BME major, is conducting research with Allison Dennis (ENG BME) on a project titled “Development of PIMA polymer coating methods for water solubilization of quantum dots.”

Kira Milgrim, an Electrical Engineering major, is conducting research with Selim Unlu (ENG ECE) on a project titled “Multiplexed measurements of the binding kinetics of Carbamazepine (CBZ) using Interferometric Reflectance Imaging Sensor (IRIS).”

Sophie Phillips, an astrophysics major, is conducting research with Dr. Michael Mendillo (CAS Space Physics) on a project titled, “Comparing the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) Radio Occultation Science Experiment (ROSE) data to Langmuir Probe and Waves (LPW) and Neutral Gas and Ions Mass Spectrometer (NGIMS) in situ data.”

Thayanie Sandrakumar, a Mechanical Engineering major is conducting research with William Boley (ENG Mechanical Engineering) on a project titled “The Characterization of Materials for Multilayered Structures in 4-Dimensional Printing.”

Luisa Watkins, a Computer Engineering major, is conducting research with Dr. Vivek Goyal (ENG Electrical and Computer Engineering) on, a project titled, “Demonstration of Robustness to Variable Incident Beam Current in Focused Ion Beam Microscopy through Time-Resolved Measurement.”
