Cost of Orientation

The following is a breakdown of some of the costs associated with attending Orientation at Boston University. The Orientation Fee is the only expense that is standard across all students attending Orientation.

Cost for New Students

The Orientation Fee is a standard fee charged once to all new students. It covers the costs associated with your mandatory Orientation experience: attending an Orientation session, compensating the student leaders who facilitate the program, staying overnight in an on-campus residence hall, meals during Orientation, the Orientation Blackboard course, and much more. This fee is a part of your first-semester tuition and can only be paid when you pay your tuition bill.

The current Orientation Fee for Summer Orientation 2024 is $345.

Orientation Fee Waiver

Limited opportunities are available for fee waivers. Students receiving financial aid who request this assistance will be considered.

Students interested in applying for an Orientation Fee waiver need to make the request utilizing this form. The form will open on June 1, 2024. Boston University Financial Assistance will begin reviewing orientation fee waiver requests when the fee waiver becomes available.

If you are interested in attending Orientation Session 5 (only available to students also registering for the FYSOP program) and/or if you have questions specifically about the cost of the First-Year Student Outreach Project, please contact the Community Service Center team via email at bucsc@bu.edu or phone at 617-353-4710.
