Student Facilitator
Student Facilitators (SFs) are the key to a new student’s experience during Orientation. From leading icebreakers to having candid conversations, SFs are responsible for setting the tone for Orientation and making sure every student has a positive experience.
Student Facilitator Experiences
- Connect with students virtually throughout July and August prior to in-person orientation. Ensure all students feel prepared coming to campus in the Fall.
- Assist with welcoming students and families who opt to visit campus during the summer prior to Orientation. This could be providing individualized tours of campus, sharing your experience as a BU student, and answering any questions that may arise.
- Lead groups of 20 to 30 students, assessing their needs throughout orientation to adapt your approach and meet them where they are comfortable.
- Facilitate various types of icebreakers to help students develop connections with their peers as well as keep them energized throughout session.
- Take attendance of your assigned student group and take a group photo.
- Create a safe environment for your group to feel comfortable to share and have candid conversations.
- Help students navigate campus by bringing them to their mandatory Orientation programming.
- Actively participate in conversations with incoming students in group settings, during meals, and during downtime between Orientation programs.
- Assist with day-of logistics during Orientation sessions, including but not limited to: assisting with setup (i.e. hanging up signs and balloons, preparing Orientation materials, etc.) seating students and family members, checking in students for their Orientation session.
