Boston University uses the US Green Building Council’s LEED Certification System (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) to incorporate sustainable design and practices in all aspects of construction projects, whether renovations or new buildings—transportation, site selection, water efficiency, energy efficiency, waste reduction, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality.
All new projects are designed to meet LEED Gold standards and Architecture 2030 standards for energy use intensity by building type. Read the New Buildings section of BU's Climate Action Plan.
