I will never forget when I came to campus for orientation; even though I was in a brand new city, I felt like I belonged from the first faculty interaction and welcome onto campus. When I visited other programs, I didn’t get that sense of belonging and I am so grateful to have found my place at BU. PT school goes fast, but the connections I made with my peers and the faculty have continued to serve me throughout my career. I continue to follow the work that my BU classmates are doing and as a new faculty member in a DPT program, I have a new appreciation for the dedication and care that each one of the BU faculty brought to the classroom and office each day.

My favorite course by far has to be Musculoskeletal System III. You are reintroduced to Diane Dalton from your first-year summer course, an awesome and genius professor of the spine. Additionally, you work closely with some previous course professors in small lab groups to learn clinical skills. The course allows you the opportunity to apply and review the other two MSK courses, which fully grasp the dynamics of how the human body is connected in daily tasks.

My absolute favorite part of being a BUPT student is the community that is built and the support we have for each other throughout the course of the program. The faculty advocates, from Day 1, that we are not competing against each other, rather, we are peers and colleagues from the moment we step foot into our first class until the end of our careers as PTs, and should support each other and raise the standards of our profession as such. I hope everyone is able to find a community as supportive and welcoming as the one that I found in BU!

I entered the BU 6 year DPT program, and I was very fortunate that the further I got into physical therapy, the more I began to love it. Currently I am working for Professional Physical Therapy as a physical therapist, clinic director, and regional clinical excellence director for nearly 50 clinics. My experience in the BU DPT program was excellent from start to finish. Throughout my years in school, I always felt as though the faculty was incredibly supportive.  As I entered my clinical experiences, I found that my education at BU had set me apart from peers at other schools and I was more prepared to take on the responsibilities of caring for individuals. I also felt more prepared and felt that my foundation was strong in each aspect of PT. As a clinical instructor myself now to over 25 PT students of differing levels, I find that BU students have one of the strongest foundations and confidence in treating. I often tell friends and peers that one of the best decisions I made in my life was going to BU as it set me up for success in the future.
