Policy on Huron AOps Cage Deactivations

  • All cages are considered to be live and active until they are deactivated in the system. When cages are active they are accruing per diem charges. Active cages can be viewed on AOps at BUASC.BU.EDU>>Protocol>>cage cards
  • When research staff want to deactivate a cage that is no longer in use, they will tear off the deactivation strip at the top of the cage card, fill out the required information, and leave the strip in the dedicated box. Please fill out the slip clearly. If we can’t decipher info on the slip it will be deactivated on the day it is processed by ASC. Strips are processed several times a week.
  • If a lab fails to place the filled-out deactivation strip in the designated location, the cage will not be deactivated in the system on that date. Instead, that cage will be deactivated once it has gone 15 days without being scanned. The cage card tab in the protocol shows the state of each card; if you think a card should no longer be “active” or there is an anomaly, then contact your facility manager.
