Dear Colleagues,

We are aware of concerns regarding the transition to SciENcv for NIH biosketches and the hyperlinks that appear in the generated documents. As you may know, NIH biosketch format pages have traditionally prohibited hyperlinks. However, biosketches produced through SciENcv include hyperlinked ORCID IDs and other elements by default. We understand this has caused confusion about compliance.

We have submitted a question to both NIH and SciENcv requesting clarification on whether SciENcv-generated hyperlinks are acceptable given the mandate to use this system. We do not expect to receive a response until after January 20. We will share NIH’s guidance with you as soon as it becomes available.

Please continue preparing your biosketches in SciENcv as required. We recommend holding off on manually removing hyperlinks until we have official guidance, as this may be unnecessary and could introduce compliance issues.

We recognize the timing is frustrating, especially for those with imminent deadlines. We are monitoring this closely and will follow up promptly once we have answers.

If you have a submission deadline before we receive clarification, please reach out to your Pre-Award Officer directly so we can discuss your specific situation.

Thank you for your patience.
