
Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) is a university-wide program that supports undergraduates participating in faculty-mentored research across all disciplines. Full-time Boston University undergraduates working with any BU faculty member (on the Charles River or Medical Campus) are eligible to apply for UROP funding.
Fall 2025 Stipend Application Deadline
Friday, September 12 at 12:00 p.m. (noon)
Types of UROP Stipend Awards
- Student Research Award (SRA): Fully funded by UROP
- Faculty Matching Grant (FMG): Funding is split 50/50 between UROP and the faculty mentor’s research funds
New for Fall 2025
Students may now apply for:
- 5 hours/week of funding with an SRA
- 5, 8, or 10 hours/week with an FMG
Awards are disbursed over a 10-week period starting in October. Students may receive UROP stipend funding twice during their time at BU.
Faculty Recommendation Required
Faculty mentors must submit a letter of recommendation here by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 12.

Friday, October 17, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the GSU Metcalf Ballroom
Volunteer to Present at the Symposium
Students interested in presenting their research at the Symposium can volunteer by submitting an abstract by Wednesday, August 27. More information can be found here.
