As of Tuesday, May 23, information previously found on the BU Research Support website can be found on the new BU Office of Research website. This includes forms, policies, trainings, and guidance for navigating the research project lifecycle, from finding funding to promoting your scholarship.

What’s new?

The new website merges two previously separate websites: the Office of Research site and the former Research Support site. This merger introduces major improvements:

  • Integrated search, so you don’t have to remember what lives on which site to search for and find what you need
  • Navigation that makes everything easier to find
  • Calendar events and blog posts integrated throughout the site by topic
  • Modern design that reflects BU’s cutting-edge and forward-looking research portfolio

How can I find what I need?

The organization of the new site was informed by extensive, multi-year research, including surveys of BU’s research community and focus groups with researchers and administrators. There are many pathways for finding what you need:

Search and menu icons
Look for these icons at the top right of any page to search and browse the site.
  • Search: You can click the magnifying glass icon in the top right of any page to make the search bar appear.*
  • Main menu: You can click the “hamburger menu” (three stacked lines) in the top right of any page to open the main menu and find the section you’re looking for that way.
  • “Information For” pages: There are audience-specific landing pages for researchers, administrators, postdocs, and students; bookmark the page relevant to you and make this your starting point whenever you visit the site.
  • Project lifecycle navigation: You can continue to browse information by project lifecycle stage using the navigation graphic at the top of the landing pages for researchers and administrators.
  • Bookmarks: Most links from the old website are set up to redirect to the corresponding page on the new website. If you have a page bookmarked and it doesn’t take you to where you’d expect, try the search bar at the top of the site. Still can’t find what you need? Contact the Office of Research and we can help!

*Google will be indexing the new website over the course of the coming weeks to make search work better and better over time. Thank you for your patience as this process plays out.

But seriously… where’s my form?

Almost all of the information from the old website was migrated over to this new site, including many of the frequently used resource libraries from the Research Support site. Here are a few links that may come in handy. Don’t forget to update your bookmarks as needed.
