Memo: Possible Government Shutdown – Guidance for PIs, December 18, 2018

TO:Principal Investigators and Department Administrators
FROM:Diane M. Baldwin, Associate Vice President, Sponsored Programs
DATE:December 18, 2018
SUBJECT:Possible Government Shutdown – Guidance for PIs

As you have heard in the news there is a possibility of a government shutdown this Friday at midnight.   If a shutdown occurs, it will be a partial shutdown and the impacted agencies will include NSF, NASA, NEH and NOAA.

Impacted agencies may pull down their websites and the agencies will be closed.  We are advising investigators to download before this Friday whatever materials they may need for grant applications or reports from the impacted agencies. NIH, DOD, DOE, and ED are not impacted because their fiscal year 2019 appropriations bills were already signed into law this fall.

We are advising faculty to continue to work on any applications or reports according to the due dates to ensure you will be ready should a shutdown occur.

As a reminder, Sponsored Programs is not available during Intersession and if you have a proposal due over the break or on January 2, it should be in our offices by Wednesday (tomorrow) at the latest so we can ensure a timely submission.
