Join us for a discussion of comparative regionalism with Tanja Boerzel and Thomas Risse, professors of political science at the Free University of Berlin and editors of The Oxford Handbook for Comparative Regionalism. Prof. Dr. Tanja Boerzel's research focus and teaching experience lie in the field of institutional theory and Governance, European Integration, and Comparative Politics with a focus on Western and Southern Europe. She mainly concentrates on questions of institutional change as a result of Europeanization as well as on the diffusion of European ideas and policies within and outside of the EU. Since 2009 she has been leading the Kolleg-Forschergruppe (KFG) "The Transformative Power of Europe." Prof. Dr. Thomas Risse is director of the Center for Transnational Relations, Foreign and Security Policy at the Otto Suhr Institute of Political Science at the Free University of Berlin. He is the author of A Community of Europeans. Transnational Identities and Public Spheres (Cornell University Press, 2010) and Cooperation among Democracies. The European Influence on U.S. Foreign Policy(Princeton University Press, 1995) Boerzel and Risse are project coordinators of the FP-7 research project "Maximizing the Enlargement Capacity of the European Union."
