The project is part of the Senior Capstone Design course. The event starts at 8:30 am and includes breakfast, a working lunch, project demos, dessert & hors d’oeuvres, and an award ceremony. A panel of alumni judges will pick award winners to be honored during the Award Ceremony. Student teams serve volunteer customers drawn from industry, government, small businesses, non-profits, schools, artists, faculty, and staff. Senior design provides students with: Technical, communication, personal, and team skills needed for successful design in electrical and computer engineering. Knowledge of specifications and standards, information collection, design strategies, modeling, computer-aided design, optimization, system design, failure, reliability, and human factors. Proficiency in oral and written communication of technical information. Understanding of team dynamics and ethical issues in design. Experience in completing a design project for a small-scale electrical or computer system.
