Scaling Up Zero-Carbon, Climate-Resilient Financing Between China, Central Asia, and Beyond
- Starts: 6:00 am on Saturday, November 16, 2024
- Ends: 7:30 am on Saturday, November 16, 2024
At the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, countries agreed on a historic pact to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030 to accelerate progress on climate action.
Scaling up renewable energy investment is key to combat climate change and build resilience, contributing to the goal of tripling renewable energy capacity. With investments in renewables taking place primarily in advanced economies and China, there is an urgent need to ratchet up renewable energy investments across developing economies. As the largest trading partner and a major investor in Central Asia and South Asia (CASA), China’s renewable energy cooperation with other countries in the region is essential to boost the energy transition and help achieve Nationally Determined Contributions.
What role does China play in enhancing renewable energy investment in Central Asia and beyond? What financing and policy mechanisms can support the design and implementation of more resilient renewable energy projects? How can development finance institutions help advance regional green and resilient cooperation between China and CASA countries?
On Saturday, November 16 at 15:00-16:30 AZT / 6:00-7:30 AM EST, join the Boston University Global Development Policy Center and Greenovation Hub (G:HUB) for an official COP29 side event on scaling up zero-carbon, climate-resilient financing between China, Central Asia and beyond.
