- Title 2022 First-Year Innovation Fellow
- Education ENG’25
Amanda Kopelman is studying biomedical engineering with a concentration in technology innovation on the pre-medical track. A passionate designer, Amanda is grateful to spend time at Accelus, a surgical robotics company in South Florida, where she is able to experience the design, testing, and distribution process of modern medical equipment on a national scale.
She works with Dr. Harry Shufflebarger at the Paley Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida, observing various spinal surgeries and reviewing clinical cases. As a member of BU’s Society of Women Engineers and Pre-Medical Society, she hopes to gain mentors and the skill set to ethically advance medical technology by developing robots to increase surgical success rates.
