Erin Tatz is a PhD candidate in Political Science. She studies Political Theory and American Politics and engages primarily with the fields of critical race studies, queer theory, aesthetics and affect theory, and carceral studies. Her work draws from fields ranging from (post)colonial studies to phenomenology, to media and literature studies, especially with regard to the political conditions of slavery and mass incarceration. She is currently working on her dissertation, which explores the political limits of empathy in antiracist projects of resistance and emancipation, marking out a territory where a more insurgent and radiant form of relationality might be found. Erin can be reached at etatz@bu.edu; her website is here: erintatz.com.
