Allison Wigen is a PhD student in Sociology at Boston University. Her research interests include culture, class and inequality, work and occupations, education, family, and social theory. Allison’s current research focuses on the artistic practices and identities of workers in non-arts occupations such as fishing, teaching, and medicine. She is also conducting research with Nazli Kibria for the Global Siblings Project, exploring the experiences of adult siblings with an economic difference between them. Prior to coming to BU, she received a BA in Literary Arts from Brown University and an EdM in Arts in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Originally from Minnesota, Allison has lived and worked in the Boston area for the last ten years.
