Adam Kane is a PhD candidate, cartoonist, and English instructor at Boston University. His dissertation in-progress, “Browknitting Whimsy: Comics Nonsense from Rodolphe Töpffer to Lynda Barry,” explores the aesthetic and historical relationships between comics and works of literary nonsense such as Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland books.
