The Core Curriculum invites applications from Core students to serve as a Core Peer Tutor in Writing (CPTW) for CC 101 in the Fall 2026 semester.

Eligibility

To be eligible, students must have at least Sophomore standing in F26 and completed CC 101 and CC 102 in a previous academic year.

The Role

CPTWs will learn to provide one-on-one writing consultations for students enrolled in CC 101, working across assignments given by multiple CC 101 faculty. The position emphasizes inclusive, inquiry-based peer tutoring and prepares CPTWs to work effectively with a diverse student population. This is a 14-week position throughout Fall 2026.

Training and Responsibilities

CPTWs must enroll in HUB CC 172: Core Peer Tutors in Writing, a 0-credit Hub Co-curricular that earns the Individual in Community Hub unit. CC172 responsibilities include:

  • Throughout the semester: attending or viewing CC 101 lectures (14 weeks; 15 hours total)
  • Weeks 1-3: attending three training seminars on best practices in peer tutoring plus completing reading and writing assignments (4 hours of class plus ~ 8 hours of homework)
  • Weeks 4-8: attending class sessions with the Core Writing Coordinator (6 hours of class plus ~6 hours for planning, reading, reflecting, observations, and debrief)

Tutoring and Compensation

Beginning in week 4, CPTWs will tutor up to 8 hours per week at $17/hour. Tutoring schedules will be arranged around each CPTW’s availability.
