Boston University Researchers Team Up with Massachusetts to Launch New Clean Energy Tools
Collaboration with the state produces online data tools that aim to help cities and towns implement greener energy programs
Imagine if you could catch Alzheimer’s disease earlier, starting treatment before outward symptoms began and slowing the disease’s devastating progression. Uniting the areas of data science, engineering, medicine, and more, BU researchers have designed an AI-based computer program that could do just that—using speech pattern analysis to predict the likelihood of the disease in the future. From modeling complex biological systems to advancing intelligent infrastructure, human-AI collaboration, and quantum computing, our researchers are using AI to amply convergent discovery across the University, connecting researchers across disciplines to explore the very limits of AI, data science, and computational innovation.
At the center of this effort is the Rafik B. Hariri Institute for Computing and Computational Science & Engineering, the connective tissue between all our themes. This work is also supported by a network of other University-wide centers and institutes, including the Center for Brain Recovery, Center on Emerging Infectious Diseases, Center for Regenerative Medicine, Center for Systems Neuroscience, Institute for Global Sustainability, Neurophotonics Center, and Photonics Center.
