For low-income families with children born preterm, access to excellent early care and education can make a world of difference, but there is a lack of research studying the barriers to that help. Using a community-engaged, convergent approach, BU researchers in education and medicine are teaming up with local partners to study this research gap. And that’s just the beginning. We’re exploring how biological, behavioral, social, and environmental factors shape child and adolescent development, while also examining the impact of educational policy, accessibility, and the role of emerging technologies in teaching and learning. Working across disciplines—and in partnership with the broader community—we’re bringing together expertise in education, public health, social science, computing, and the arts to better understand how young people learn, grow, and thrive.
