  • Who should attend these events? These events are for prospective graduate students who are considering a master’s degree or graduate certificate at Boston University’s College of Communication, including career-changers and current or recent undergraduate students.
  • Do I need to apply before attending an event? No. Many students attend events before they apply to learn more about programs, admissions requirements, and whether a particular program is the right fit for their goals.
  • Are events virtual or in person? Our graduate information sessions are virtual (on Zoom), making them accessible to students anywhere in the world. You may also request an in-person visit or schedule a virtual meeting with Graduate Affairs.
  • What will I learn at a graduate admissions Q&A? During admissions Q&A sessions, you’ll learn:
    • How to apply to COM graduate programs
    • What materials are required (resume, statement of purpose, etc.)
    • How applications are reviewed
    • Tips for submitting a strong application
    • Important deadlines and next steps
    • You’ll also have time to ask your own questions live.
  • Will I meet faculty or current students? Most events are hosted by the COM Graduate Affairs team, who work closely with faculty and admissions committees. Some sessions or recordings may also feature current students or alumni, depending on the format.
  • Can international students attend? Yes! These events are open to U.S. and international students, and the Graduate Affairs team can answer general questions about international applications, timelines, and enrollment.
  • Can I meet with a graduate advisor before applying? Yes. You can schedule a 1-on-1 Zoom meeting or in-person visit with the COM Graduate Affairs team by using our online scheduling tool.
  • Where can I find application requirements and deadlines? You can view all COM master’s degree application requirements and deadlines on our Application Instructions page.
  • How do I register for an event? Each event includes a Zoom registration link. Once you’re registered, you’ll receive confirmation and reminders by email with instructions for joining.
