COM Mentors: Alumni-Student Mentor Program

COM Mentors is a virtual mentoring program for alumni and students to connect. The program is led by COM Career Services. Students and alumni are matched and participate in the program for one semester.

NOTE: the 2026 – 2027 program will have 60 mentor/mentee pairs and this application will close after it receives 60 applications.

Goals of the program:

  1. Foster Meaningful Connections
    Build supportive alumni-student reciprocal relationships that encourage reflection, professional growth, and long-term career confidence.
  2. Explore Career Pathways
    Provide insight into careers through personal storytelling, real-world experiences, and practical tools.
  3. Strengthen Professional Skills
    Support mentees in developing the skills and mindset needed to navigate internships, job searches, and early career challenges, including interpersonal communication, responsibility, self-motivation and leadership.
  4. Navigating Workplace Culture
    Encourage open dialogue about how to build collaborative relationships with colleagues with different backgrounds and perspectives while still honoring personal integrity.

Details:
– Eligibility: Sophomore, Junior, Senior and Graduate COM majors
– Commitment: Four meetings with your mentor/mentee; FOR STUDENTS: attend 2 COM Career Services workshops and have one meeting with a COM Career Counselor
– Duration: November 1, 2026 – March 5, 2027.
– Support: Resources and guides provided for both mentors and mentee

Important Dates:

September 24 – October 12 – Application opens for students and alumni who attended a virtual networking event
October 13 – October 27, 2026 Application opens for students and alumni who did not attend a networking event if space is available
October 1 – 30, 2026 Matches sent to Mentors and Mentees
March 5, 2027 Program Ends

COM Mentors: Spring 2026

To participate as an ALUMNI mentor in the program:

  1. Sign up to be an Alumni Mentor
  2. Watch the virtual mentor training video to learn more about the program.

To participate as a STUDENT mentee in the program:

Eligibility: Sophomore, Juniors, Seniors, and Masters students. The signup link for the program will be shared during all of the COM Mentors information sessions.

  1. RSVP for one of the Meet Your Mentor: COM Mentors Students and Alumni Virtual Networking Events to meet potential mentors from the program
  2. Sign-up link for COM Mentors program will be given during the networking session
  3. October 13 – October 27, 2026 Application opens for students and alumni who did not attend a networking event if space is available
