Situation

The Algonquin Club of Boston, founded in 1886, is a social club that puts an emphasis on professional networking for women and men with a widespread range of experiences and backgrounds in the Greater Boston Area. During the spring 2014 semester, the account team was challenged with developing a strategy to attract new members to the club.

Solution

The team's strategy for attracting new members included establishing a social media strategy for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. By focusing on social media, the team sought to attract prospective members in the medicine, business and law industries. In order to transform the Club's social media platforms, the team focused on Boston-based news stories and actively connected with new and current members.

Results

Increased average Facebook likes by 67 percent and Twitter followers by 46 percent
Increased average Twitter retweets per week by 800 percent
Increased average Twitter posts per week by 145 percent and Facebook posts per week by 161 percent
Created a media list for lifestyle and event coverage
Provided analysis for Advise Realty
Developed content for company newsletter
