Prof. Michelle Johnson receives AOJ Fellowship
The Association of Opinion Journalists Foundation recently honored Prof. Michelle Johnson with the 2012 Barry Bingham Sr. Fellowship, recognizing Johnson for her work with diversity in journalism education.
The Bingham Fellowship acknowledges a faculty member who has shown great initiative in mentoring college students and awards recipients for career-long contributions to students of color. Past recipients include Yvonne Latty, director of the Reporting New York and Reporting the Nation programs at New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, for her work on urban journalism, and Sree Sreenivasan, professor of digital journalism at Columbia University and dean of student affairs at the university's Graduate College of Journalism. Sreenivasan founded the South Asian Journalists Association in 1994.
“It's nice to be recognized for doing something you love,” Johnson said in an email. “And I really appreciate the support from BU that allows me to do this work.”
