COM Ad Students Take Home 16 Hatch Awards

COM advertising students took home 16 of the 21 student awards last week at the 63nd Annual Hatch Awards, one of the country’s premier competitions for New England creatives in marketing and advertising.

In a departure, no gold-level awards were made in the student category but COM students won seven of the 11 silvers, four of the four bronze, and five of the six merits. The winning work was from COM’s portfolio development classes taught by COM faculty Doug Gould, Mike Davis and Pegeen Ryan.

“Our advertising portfolio students are hard-working and talented, and we get to see their determination to do their best work every week,” said Ryan. “What is even better is to see how the advertising community recognizes their creative talent at an event like Hatch. Congrats to all who entered and all who won.”

Added Gould: “Each year, we raise the creative bar for our students, and we’re happy to see so many of them jump over it. And we have twice as much great work that didn’t win, that’s the nature of these shows.”

The Hatch Awards honor New England work with award categories in print, video, audio, digital, mobile, and web-based content. The awards continue the tradition of celebrating the very best in creative excellence in the region, judged by top professionals across the country.
