COM alum signs with Boston Celtics

Former Boston University forward John Holland (COM '11) from the Canton Charge signed a two-year deal with the Boston Celtics Tuesday, with a second year non-guaranteed.
Holland was the America East Conference player of the year in 2011 when he led BU to an NCAA Tournament appearance. While at BU, he earned Most Outstanding Player in the America East tournament in 2011, scoring 27 points in the championship game against Stony Brook.
Holland becomes the first Terrier to join the Celtics since Tom Ivey ('86) was drafted in the seventh round of the 1986 NBA Draft. Past BU Hall of Famers Steve Wright ('80) and Bob Cumings ('59) were also previously drafted by Boston. Naismith Hall of Fame member Rick Pitino had his first head coaching job at BU from 1978-83 and later coached the Celtics from 1997-01.
