Ilda Hanxhari

Senior Academic Advisor

Having a diverse social and academic background has given me the opportunity to relate holistically to my students in various ways while being mindful of their individuality and helping them adjust to college life. Boston University prides itself on its world-renowned faculty, staff, resources and diverse student population. It is my goal as an adviser to build upon the partnership I create with my students so we can navigate these resources together in order to create the college experience each of them envisioned and can proudly look back upon.

In addition to advising, I am also the College’s International Student Liaison, a Title IX Officer, member of several BU committees, a mentor for the Boston University Community Service Scholars, and a Boston University Scholar student mentor. On my spare time I like to teach adult education courses at my local church and nonprofit agencies. My background includes experience in judicial affairs, community outreach, program development, and implementation. I enjoy researching the effects of positive psychology and mindfulness on academic achievement and student retention, as well as traveling to new places with my family. Additional personal interests include research on Learning and Behavior, Childhood and Adolescent Behavior, and Diversity and Inclusion.

As a parent, I am also mindful of being the advisor that I hope my children will have some day when attending school away from home.
