Double Bass Workshop

The two-week Double Bass Workshop, under the direction of National Symphony Orchestra member Ira Gold (Director) and Boston Symphony Orchestra member Carl Anderson (Assistant Director), addresses all the fundamentals of double bass performance and musicianship.

• Focus on fundamentals including intonation, posture, strokes, facility, sound production, scales, vibrato, and development of musicianship, listening, practice skills, and ear training
• Study of solo repertoire and orchestral excerpts
• Individualized attention and masterclasses
• Performance opportunities
• Boston University transferable course credit

In 2024 the BUTI Double Bass Workshop is joined by Tracy Rowell, current faculty at Oberlin Conservatory, as a Guest Artist in Residence.
